Three Jays Enterprises aims to deliver a wide range of apparels for ladies at affordable prices through sourcing of products all over South East Asian regions, mainly in Thailand, Indonesia, China, India and Bangladesh. The team is constantly on the lookout for what’s new and trending in the market.

Since its inception, the company has grown from two employees to a total of 13 staff-strength. That said, the company is still working on very lean manpower therefore they know the importance of retaining and taking care of their workers, especially the mature ones. The company decided to redesigning work processes with the implementation of new equipment through NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) WorkPro Job Redesign scheme.

Manual processes were relooked into and have been redesigned with the introduction of automation to ensure work processes are efficient.  Before automation, goods were carried up and down the stairs manually by older workers, making it physically straining for them due to the high volume of goods. Workers are required to carry at least 20 boxes daily and will usually need around 40 minutes to finish carrying all the boxes, often leading to them working overtime as they have other works to do as well for the day. This was of major concern to the bosses of Three Jays Enterprises and therefore decided to invest in a warehouse goods lifting hoist.

With the implementation of the Warehouse Goods Lifting Hoist, older workers do not need to manually carry out heavy lifting duties of goods. Workers can now load the boxes on one trolley, push it into the lift, press the start button and the goods will be lifted to the top level. Once it reaches top level, the older workers will pull out the trolley and place it to the designated area. This makes work easier and safer for older workers.

Company General Manager, Nazreen Sharief, describes the benefits of the new equipment: “Thanks to an 80 percent funding support from this initiative, the new warehouse goods lifting hoist has helps us improve our productivity, enhance workplace safety and health, and shortened working hours for workers. Compared to previous operations, our manpower is now better tailored, and the overall process has been effectively optimised.”

As an enlightened employer, the company rewarded the workers impacted by the job redesign with attractive salary increments and benefits. This has, in turn, led to higher staff morale, worker retention and a win-win for all.

Three Jays Enterprises continues to seek opportunities for collaboration with other fashion brands locally and internationally and will continue providing affordable fashion apparels to all ladies.
